A short one from Media Bastard today. Some of you may be aware that Sarah Palin was caught reading notes from a ‘cheat sheet’ written on the palm of her hand during her address to The Tea Party Convention in Nashville last Saturday. For those who haven’t seen the incident, a video is included below.
With delightful irony (Republicans can find a definition here), Palin spent part of her speech attacking President Obama’s penchant for using an autocue. Intellectual heavyweight Palin, who many of you will remember for being unable to name a daily newspaper in this interview with Katie Couric, had scrawled the words “energy, budget cuts, tax” and “lift Americans’ spirits”. The word ‘budget’ had been crossed out.
Media Bastard was particularly shocked by this piece of news; not because of its illustration of Palin’s shocking inadequacy as a political figure, but because it appears to demonstrate that she can read. Media Bastard cannot think of a more aspirational figure for her many supporters.
