Social media can get you robbed, apparently. Just look at the case of poor old Israel Hyman, (@izzyvideo) who tweeted that he would be away from home on a family trip and returned to find his house burgled.
Media Bastard isn’t one for scaremongering but he was intrigued by the this article on Mashable about a new website called PleaseRobMe.com
The site aggregates geotagged Tweets from people who announce their location and livestreams the data. The message, of course, is to think twice about data-sharing online, as opposed to being a social media resource for potential thieves.
Media Bastard think the site is a great idea. He isn’t so sure, however, about the apparent racial stereotyping on the their homepage…
